What is Ujjayi Breath?

Ujjayi (pronounced oo-JAI-yee) is a gentle breathing technique from the yogic tradition. Its name means "victorious breath" or "ocean breath." You create it by softly narrowing the back of your throat while breathing in and out through your nose. The result is a quiet, soothing hissing sound, like a distant wave rolling onto shore.

This sound becomes an anchor for your mind, giving your thoughts somewhere soft to rest.
